Under a new partnership, the Californian electrolyser OEM plans to provide its PEM systems for deployments in the nation, while Tata Projects will manage the entire EPC process.

Intended to ensure “seamless” project delivery, as well as cost-effective solutions for green hydrogen in India, the plans come as the nation looks to rapidly upscale production capacity.

Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium, said by working with partners including Tata Projects, the company is positioned to be a “leading provider of PEM electrolyser technology in India.”

“Together, we share the goal of driving the adoption of green hydrogen in India and accelerating the country’s transition towards a sustainable energy future,” he added.

In a previous interview with H2 View, Ballantine said the company expects its manufacturing capacity in India to grow.

Ohmium has already announced its involvement in several Indian-based green hydrogen projects. Last year (2023), it was selected as the PEM partner for NTPC Renewable Energy, with plans to deploy 5GW of renewable energy for green hydrogen and ammonia production.

An India Hydrogen Alliance (IH2A) report estimated the addressable market for Indian-manufactured hydrogen equipment could reach $50bn by 2030, with electrolyser stacks accounting for 34%.
