The company will receive certification for ASME Section XII and ASME Section VIII Div. 1, which is required to build liquid hydrogen storage tanks in South Korea.

H2 View understands that three liquid hydrogen bulk storage tanks have arrived in the country, and Plug is preparing to ship its first liquid hydrogen trailer to South Korea later this month.

Both the tanks and trailers have been manufactured in Texas, the US, and were designed to meet specific Korean regulations.

Earlier this week, Plug announced it had secured the first international safety and performance certification in South Korea for PEM electrolyser manufacturing.

Plug’s 1MW PEM electrolyser, capable of producing 425kg of green hydrogen per day – the EX425D, can now be commercially sold throughout the Korean market.

The certification process by KGS also saw Plug Power’s Rochester Gigiafactory in the US approved for electrolyser stack production.

The company delivered its liquid hydrogen portable refuelers to customers earlier this year, which included a 1,500kg cryogenic liquid storage tank and a J2601 compliant dispenser.
