Expected to be delivered next year (2025), AiLO placed the order with Tom’s Truck Centres, a member of Nikola’s Sales and Service Dealer network.

Announced at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Las Vegas, the US, the deal represents AiLO’s ambitions to advance sustainable logistics services and meet the growing demands of the port industry.

The major drayage carrier operates in the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The company previously ordered 50 Nikola FCEVs from Tom’s Truck Centres, with ongoing deliveries scheduled throughout 2024.

Ryan Clayton, Global Head of Sales at Nikola, explained, “Having a prominent and mission-driven customer in AiLO not only purchase trucks for 2024 but double their order for 2025 is an honour for our organisation and a testament to their drive to make a difference.”

He added, “We are glad to support with Class 8 vehicles as well as our HYLA energy infrastructure. Nikola trucks are on the road today, and the biggest test of our trucks is measured by our customers and their repeat orders.”

In August 2023, Nikola announced it had surpassed 200 sales orders for its Class 8 hydrogen-powered FCEVs, representing 18 different customers.
