Based on its fully electric sibling, the Vivaro Hydrogen uses a 45kW fuel cell in combination with a 10.5kWh battery to deliver 249 miles of range from 5kg of hydrogen stored onboard.
With a refuelling time of just five minutes, Vauxhall hopes to prove the potential of hydrogen in light-duty logistics, claiming the van demands “no compromise” on space compared to its combustion engine cousin.
Earlier this year, the manufacturer partnered with Ryze Hydrogen to develop hydrogen refuelling solutions in the UK for fleet operators.
Launched in 2022, the Vivaro Hydrogen is already sold in left-hand driver markets under its European brand Opel.

It comes after Vauxhall said it would launch the larger Movano Hydrogen, which it expects to begin delivering in 2025.
“With a 311-mile range, zero-emissions-in-use and quick refuelling, the Movano Hydrogen will provide fleets with another sustainable option alongside our full line-up of battery electric vans,” said James Taylor, Managing Director of Vauxhall.
Last year, Vauxhall’s parent company Stellantis took a 33.3% stake in Faurecia and Michelin’s fuel cell joint venture Symbio.
