SibFU has said the centre already has a working prototype of a hydrogen power system, which would see the range of an electric car doubled. Currently the team is continuing to work on modifications of light duty and passenger electric vehicles hydrogen power systems.

H2 View understands, the school’s specialists will work alongside the research and development company, Russian Hydrogen’s experts on a variety of hydrogen-focused projects, including the development of existing projects.

Additionally, the collaboration plans to develop fuel cells, hydrogen filling stations, an electric semi-trailer truck and a fuel cell bus.

Roman Ayupov, Director of SibFU’s School of Natural Gas and Petroleum Engineering, said, “The School of Natural Gas and Petroleum Engineering has always been active in research in the field of fuel improvement. Many companies specialising in the extraction of hydrocarbons are already engaged in their developments in this area.

“That is, the oil and gas industry, oddly enough, is very interested in the development and implementation of hydrogen technologies. As for the use of installations on this type of fuel, now a development of a Russian vehicle that will be equipped with such a power system is under way.”
