This is according to Tass Russian News Agency who reported that Putin stated his and Russia’s hydrogen targets to representatives of Italian business who could move to secure a steady flow of hydrogen from Russia.

Russia could well build on these partnerships to ensure that the country is one of the largest exporters of hydrogen across the globe whilst also supporting decarbonisation of industries.

According to Tass, Putin said, “Implementation of pilot projects on production of hydrogen with a low level of greenhouse gas emissions and its use in the energy sector, transport and industry can start in coming years.

“Russia can become of the world’s largest hydrogen producers and exporters by 2035.

“We plan – you have definitely heard that, I also spoke about that – to reach the net zero by 2060, simultaneously keeping sustainable economic growth.”
