The development falls under the Ma-Hy-Hy project, which Proton Motor Fuel Cell and Torqeedo, part of the DEUTZ Group, on Tuesday (Jan 11) said they are working together on.

Already, the project has received official programme funding from the Bavarian Federal Government and will continue to receive funding until 2024.

Once the solution is complete, it is hoped it will be used worldwide for both inland and offshore.

In addition to the new development, the project will also see Proton Motor further adapt and optimise components of its fuel cell systems for maritime applications.
