Announcing the name as Aviation Park, Cooley said it will have a capacity of 1.5GW per annum, which is more than ITM Power’s first gigafactory at Bessemer Park, Sheffield, UK
“This is where we will increase the level of automation and by doing so drive down our costs and increase the volumes of PEM electrolysis equipment. It will be open at the end of 2023,” he told event attendees.
ITM Power’s second Gigafactory will also be located in Sheffield, around two miles from the company’s existing site.

Complementing the existing 1GW per annum (pa) of capacity at ITM Power’s Bessemer Park site, the new 1.5GW pa factory will provide a template for the company’s first international facility, which is expected to have a capacity of 2.5GW pa.
This means ITM Power’s total electrolyser capacity could reach 5GW pa by the end of 2024.
