A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Azolla and Cal State LA aligns with the company’s strategic plan to expand its operations into the US and boost the opening of its Los Angeles operation.

Azolla Hydrogen’s Biodrome 225 unit, which it claims produces 225kg of low greenhouse gas (GHG) emission hydrogen daily from bio-methanol feedstock and deionised water, will be integrated into the existing HRFF fuelling station infrastructure.

The research and design project plans to demonstrate Azolla’s updated compression, storage, and dispensing equipment on its hydrogen production units.

Cal State LA’s HRFF is said to be the largest university-based hydrogen fuelling station in the US, which at present produces 60kg of hydrogen per day. The agreement with Azolla will increase production output by more than 4.5 times, with a total capacity of 285kg.

It is hoped that the partnership will advance the hydrogen industry by sharing ‘real-world knowledge and expertise’ as it develops workforce skills amongst students.

Azolla Hydrogen was awarded grant funding from National Resources Canada under the CanExport Innovation programme to help support with certification and legal costs.

North American Hydrogen Summit

H2 View is taking its events platform to America’s original clean hydrogen hub of California. Together with the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP), we will stage our North American Hydrogen Summit in San Francisco on July 14-15.

As our summit theme Building Bridges: Hydrogen hubs and investment suggests, the event will explore the $8bn of funding announced to create at least four regional hydrogen hubs in the US. These hubs will turbo-charge the nation’s progress toward heavy trucking and industrial sectors that run without producing carbon pollution – and they may just provide the path forward to a hydrogen-fuelled future.

With California and Texas vying to be America’s hydrogen capital today, where are the hubs of tomorrow? Further still, what can other states, and countries, learn from California’s success story? And how can we build bridges to a successful flow of international investment?

If you are a member of the CaFCP, be sure to grab your ticket at a discounted rate with a code that can be provided to you by the events team.
