In what had been described as a historic day for Japan, Australia and the global energy industry, the world’s first liquid hydrogen carrier left the Port of Victoria and started its journey to Kobe, Japan in January.

However, on the 25 January, it was reported that a flame had been seen coming from the gas combustion unit’s exhaust on deck. The unit was immediately shutdown and isolated before the crew implemented the fire prevention response plan.

The incident has also been recognised as serious and thus further investigation could be required.
