The AiP from the French testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) company, Bureau Veritas, has taken Helion’s FC-RACK™ closer to certification.

H2 View understands, the FC-RACK will incorporate a thermal management system, dedicated on-board control system, and a hydrogen safety system, allowing it to be installed inside or on the deck of the vessel.

It is hoped the industrialisation of Helion’s fuel cell will enable marine players to decarbonise the maritime sector and meet their Net Zero goals.

Helion, a subsidiary of Alstom, revealed it was set to provide a fuel cell system to Piriou to aid the development of a hybrid hydrogen sweeper vessel in April (2022), where the firm planned to integrate the FC-RACK with a capacity of 200kW.
