Following BEH2YDRO’s launch of dual-fuel engines in September 2020, the joint venture between ABC Engines and CMB.TECH is now delivering a ‘combustion engine on 100% hydrogen’ with suitability for marine applications as well as locomotives.

The new hydrogen engine delivers 100% clean energy, with no emissions such as carbon (CO2), nitrogen (NOx), sulphur oxides (Sox) or soot particles, H2 View understands.

The innovative engine range has a power range from 1MW to 2.6MW, with options of 6 and 8-cylinder in-line engines and 12 and 16-cylinder V-engines.

The joint venture has also praised the engine’s versatility, with waste hydrogen recovery, and an ‘optimised air/gas mixture that reduces component heat up’. It states that using ‘proven technology’ these units are designed for both long-term and efficient operation.

BEH2YDRO has also claimed that there is no use of scarce raw materials like lithium, zinc, cobalt or platinum in its engine.
